Juice your way to better health
I find that juicing is very good but there’s always a better way to using your own home made juice and incorporate it into your Smoothies. I have a very special recipe that I would like to share with you. I call it my Super Metabolism Booster Smoothie.
Here is the thing…. we all need a well-balanced meal a day, that should be a regiment in all our homes. We all know that meal is breakfast. So how can we accomplish this?….. By bringing together all the necessary ingredients, into one super smoothie a day, with a little effort we can achieve this.
I know that there are a lot of mothers out there that are single and it is hard to keep your family going with out the help of fast-foods and there doesn’t seem to be time in a day to what I am proposing. Stay with me to the end and we will look at ways to accomplish this.
Juice your way to better health as I’m making the well-learned statement. There is a lot talk out there on the Internet, about juicing. Personally, I believe we lose a lot of fiber, in juice. But if we put together this combination, juicing and smoothies. We blend up a super food. Active, and nutritionally alive…

That said let’s get busy:
In this blend, I will also use leafy greens, like spinach, romaine lettuce, kale or swiss chard. It’s very hard to add the greens to your smooth without making a mess. So I came up with… adding to my blender 2 cups of water 2 cups packed down greens and blend.
For mothers out there that are working it might seem hard to accomplish this but I can tell you that it doesn’t lake long to do this you can accomplish it in 1 hour of your time once a week . Most likely on your days off work.
Then I put them in containers and freeze. This will make approximately 4 to 5 small containers to freeze. I will add one container of greens to the smoothie I am preparing for the day.
You want to have at least 7 days of greens so you don’t make too much work, for yourself. For me and my grandson, we like the spinach the best. You might think “yuk”, but with all your other flavors going on, you can’t really taste the leafy greens.
You might think that your kids will not like this but I know by experience with my teenager that they will like it and what a good way to get them to eat there greens.
So don’t let that hold you back, you’re getting the nutrients, they’re supplying. For each week I will do a different batch, just to keep things interesting, to your taste-buds. As all natural health supplements, take time and consistency to reap the benefits, actually feel the Smoothies beneficial effects.
Juice: in a juicer add 1 beetroot, 2 apples, 2 medium carrots, 1-inch piece of ginger and 2 celery stocks. This will make about 1 cup of juice. So if you like you can juice for three or four days depending if you have room in your freezer. Use 1/2 cup in your smoothie for the day and put the rest in ice cube trays then freeze. You will know how many to us per smoothie, depending on how much you what to make.
By multiplying this in the same way you would with the leafy greens you can also freeze enough for a week.
The nice thing about freezing you don’t lose the nutritional value that are in your leafy greens , fruits or veggies
- Add 2 cups of mixed frozen Berries,
- 1 banana,
- 1 tbs chia seed,
- 2 scoops of protein powder( optional)
- 1tsp cinnamon,
- 1/2tsp turmeric,
- 20 drops of trace minerals,
- 1tsp of coconut oil and
- 1TB of apple cider vinegar.
Let me tell you a bit about trace minerals. Trace mineral are what we get from the ground. They are absorbed though the root system of plants to the leaves and or veggies we eat.
Then we eat them, but it is a scientific faked that our earth is being depleted because the farmers are not butting them back into their fields because it is not mandatory.
These trace minerals convert to what we know as electrolytes. These are accentual for braking down our food line and transporting all the nutrients to our vital organs. So that is why I highly recommend adding trace minerals to your smoothies.
Trace minerals are microscopic and we need very little but they are accentual to our system.
I always us fresh bananas, I buy up to three days max. The ones that turn on me I will freeze and us them in baking my banana cakes. (: and frozen bananas make a great snack for the kids. You might not be able to keep to many in your freezer when there are kids around.
Know add the juice you just prepared and one frozen container of your leafy greens, and two cups of cold water or ice cubs blend for about 2 minutes or until you can see that you have a great looking smoothie. If you need to add more water go ahead, what you want is 6 cups of your prepared smoothie in your blender. “Enjoy”
I use what they call the super blend of frozen Berries. They call it the super blend because the darker fruit tends to have the highest nutritional value. Blueberry, blackberry, & cherry. In your frozen fruit section, it will sometimes say Super Fruit Blend.
The frozen fruit give you great texture to your smoothie, but there is also a plus with using frozen fruit. The highest nutritional value are in nice ripe fruit. Frozen fruit is packed at there ripest point then frozen . Frozen fruit do not loss there nutritional value or go bad, with fresh fruit you might end up throwing fruit away if it is not used up.
For us…… I divide the smoothie into three. If you like a bit more sweetness you can add Stevia for sweetness. We personally like it the way it is. If this is for just one person and looking to lose weight drink your glass and put the rest in the frig you can drink this thought out the day. You will find that you feel very replenished throughout your day, because of the chia seed. I will talk a bit more about this in my next blog. You also need to eat two meals a day Lunch and dinner. Do a bit of exercise. Walking is a good routine to add to your schedule. And you can work it up to an hour a day, whatever suits you the best.
Keep in your pantry Fresh and frozen fruit:
- Fresh vegetables
- plain Yogurt (organic, Greek, homemade)
- Super-foods cacao, maca, aloe vera, , spirulina, ext
- Herbs and spices (cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, cayenne, mint etc)
- Local and/or organic honey
- Local and/or maple syrup or Stevia
- organic apple-cider vinegar (do not us the clear vinegar us the one that looks kind of murky)
leafy greens (spinach, kale, Romane lettuce, swiss char
Stay away from or do not add to your smoothie:
- ice cream, yogurt and sherbet
- Chocolate syrups and powders
- Sugar as a sweetener
- Agave nectar
- Most stores bought honey
- Non-organic peanut butter
- Cheap protein powders
- Chocolate pudding mix
- Cool Whip or whip cream
Using protein powder, there are a lot of pros and cons and there are a lot of brand names out there. Look for a blend that has a good review backing it up. When you use Protein powder, you also need to hydrate though out the day by drinking at least 8 glasses of water though out the day.
If you are prone to constipation consider not using it. But add more chia seed about 2 tbs. this will keep you regular. That is also why I use the Chia seed. It is much better than flax seed. Chia seed can be found in any health food store, or Bulk Barns the same as trace minerals.
I use frozen fruit because I can store them in my freezer and not worry about the fruit going bad. And it gives you a lot of texture to your smoothie.
This super smoothie I make only once a day and in the evening
In the evening meal, I make a Smoothie with frozen fruit banana and coconut milk, or almond milk. For those of you that would like to loss weight drink about 30 minutes before you eat use water or ice cubs instead of milk. This will help curb your appetite and you will find yourself eating much less.
Eat a well-balanced meal, obstane to one helping. I highly recommend staying away from soy milk or anything to do with soy products.
There are some very nice frozen fruit blends in the supermarket, Strawberry, Raspberry, mango, pineapple, cranberry, peach, mix and match and have fun doing it. Juice your oranges, lemon, apples and veggie to add to your smoothie , add a banana to give it a very nice smooth texture. There are frozen bananas also
